Attorneys helping members of the military with family law issues

Missouri is home to many men and women serving in the United States military. Service members accept the fact that serving their country may involve uprooting their families at any time to move to a new base anywhere in the U.S. or the world, but relationships may suffer. This is particularly true where a service member is forced to leave his or her family for deployment to hostile locations overseas.

Representing members of the military in family legal issues requires attorneys who have developed an understanding of the different rules that apply only to military personnel and not to civilians. Some of these rules include federal and state laws affecting, the jurisdiction in which a divorce dispute must be filed, property division, spousal support, and child support.

When family law issues, such as child custody or divorce, arise in a military family, the Stange Law Firm PC stands ready to put their knowledge of the laws affecting members of the armed forces to work on behalf of military personnel or their family members. For example, the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act allows for a stay of court proceedings against a member of the military who deployed. This affords the service member the opportunity to defend against a divorce proceeding or other family law case after returning to the U.S.

As a spouse of a member of the military, it is important to know your rights as well. The attorneys at the Stange Law Firm can help with pension benefits, medical benefits, property division and support issues that frequently arise in cases involving military families.  More information about how the Stange Law Firm can assist in military family legal issues can be found on the military divorce page of our website.
