How to broach a prenuptial agreement talk

28077698_S.jpgIt is almost wedding season in Missouri, as summer and early fall are some of the most popular times to hold the big celebration. That means more couples may be considering their future as a couple, and that may lead to discussions of a prenuptial agreement. Admittedly, this can be an uncomfortable topic. After all, who wants to think about divorce when you haven't even made it to the altar?

University of Missouri study looks at divorce and social media

25320557_S.jpgSocial media websites have revolutionized the way we interact with significant others, friends, family members, and co-workers. Instead of writing a formal email, all you have to do on one of these websites is to open a chat box and type in a brief message. Responses to these messages typically come much faster than standard email. There is no doubt that social media websites, such as Facebook and Twitter, have changed the way we socialize in St. Charles, Missouri, as well as around the globe. However, not all of these changes are having a positive impact on our social lives.

The up-and-down divorce rate

13223006_S.jpgThe divorce rate is kind of like the unemployment rate. For you, it is either 0 percent or 100 percent, as you either have a job or you do not and you are either divorced or not. It can be a rather abstract topic for general discussion, or it can be intensely personal. So, questions of whether the divorce rate is going up or down can seem rather academic, but they are useful.

Could a prenuptial help your marriage before you are married?

7833690_S.jpgPrenuptial agreements are like insurance. No one likes paying for insurance, but when your home is damaged in a storm, or car wrecked in a crash, it sure can come in handy. The same can be said of a prenuptial agreement. The difficulty with a prenuptial agreement is both raising the issue with your future spouse and conceiving in your own mind of the need for one.

Does divorce drive the economy?

20235647_S.jpgOne of the "benefits" of the Great Recession was the reduction in the divorce rate. Of course, whether you view the divorce rate as a "bad" may be a function of how happy you are in your marriage. If you are in a marriage that has soured, and are now looking for a way out, you may find a reduction in the divorce rate as the true "bad."
